Dolomiti Superski (Italy) has the most lifts of any single ski pass in the world — around 450 lifts spread across 12 interconnected valleys and 1,200 km of pistes. It's not a single lift-connected area but operates on one shared lift pass.
Les Trois Vallées (France) is the world's largest single lift-connected ski area, with 156 lifts and 600 km of pistes connecting Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, La Tania and Saint-Martin-de-Belleville. You can ski from one end to the other without removing your skis.
Not always. A resort with 90 modern detachable chairlifts and gondolas (e.g. Saalbach, Zermatt) will move skiers far more efficiently than one with 150 older drag lifts and fixed-grip chairs. Look at the uphill capacity (skiers/hour) column for a better measure of throughput.
Dolomiti Superski leads at roughly 600,000 skiers/hour across its network. Les Trois Vallées (260,000), Portes du Soleil (235,000) and Paradiski (215,000) round out the top four. Among single resorts (not multi-resort passes), Saalbach-Hinterglemm and Arlberg lead Europe.
