How we get our data
Every number on Where to Ski has a source. This page documents exactly where snow depth, lift pass prices and AI recommendations come from — and how often we refresh them.
Snow depth & weather
- •fnugg API for Norwegian resorts (48h cache)
- •ANMSM open data for French resorts (48h cache)
- •RapidAPI ski feed for US resorts (48h cache)
- •Perplexity Sonar as a fallback for resorts without a regional feed (96h cache)
- •Live weather overlay from a meteorological provider per resort coordinates
Lift pass prices
- •Direct extraction from official resort pricing pages
- •Perplexity-verified pricing for resorts without machine-readable feeds
- •Specific operator rules (e.g. Skistar 6-day pass / 4.9 daily rate, SEK→EUR at 11)
- •Seven-day-consecutive requirement to reject one-off promo prices
AI-generated content
- •Gemini 3 Flash for the Ski Concierge AI chat responses
- •Perplexity Sonar for snow conditions and fact-style queries
- •Gemini for resort descriptions and image selection in our automated pipeline
- •All AI output cites sources and is reviewed by a human editor before publication

What we don't do
- • No paid placements. Resort ranking is algorithmic.
- • No invented numbers. If a value can't be sourced, the field is left empty rather than estimated.
- • No personal data sold. See our privacy policy for details.
