Bulgaria's Bansko delivers the lowest cost-per-piste-km in Europe — €232 for a 6-day pass covering 75 km of piste, with hotel half-board from €40/night.
Bansko (Bulgaria) at 75 km piste for a €50 day-pass is the unbeatable km-per-Euro leader. Jasná Nízke Tatry (Slovakia) at 50 km for €59 and Szczyrk (Poland) at 40 km for €44 are close behind. Mariborsko Pohorje (Slovenia) offers 42 km for €42 — €1/km. By contrast, Špindlerův Mlýn (Czech) at 30 km for €46 is €1.53/km but operates the most modern infrastructure on this list.
Bansko (Bulgaria) at 2,560 m and Borovets (Bulgaria) at 2,540 m lead, both in the Rila mountains. Kanin-Sella Nevea (Slovenia-Italy) reaches 2,300 m. Tatranská Lomnica (Slovakia) reaches the highest lift-served point in the Western Carpathians at 2,196 m (Lomnické sedlo). Jasná tops out at 2,024 m on Chopok. The Czech Republic and Poland (excluding the Tatras' Kasprowy Wierch at 1,959 m) max out around 1,200–1,300 m — a structural snow-reliability disadvantage in warm winters.
Selectively yes. Jasná's Chopok north chutes (Goat Back) offer genuine off-piste; Tatranská Lomnica has Slovakia's longest black run (5.5 km from Lomnické sedlo); Bansko's high terrain above 2,200 m offers powder days with virtually no crowds; Vogel and Kanin in Slovenia have steep tree skiing. The general pattern: 80% of Eastern European piste is blue/red, 15% is short black, 5% is genuinely steep. For all-day advanced cruising, Jasná, Bansko and Szczyrk are the credible options.

All prices are 2026/27 adult day and 6-day passes converted to EUR at mid-November 2025 rates (CZK 25 / PLN 4.25 / RON 5 / BGN 1.96 / EUR direct = €1). "HS lifts" counts detachable chairlifts and gondolas — fixed-grip chairs and surface lifts are excluded. Piste km figures are operator-published; vertical drop is base-to-summit on the highest lift-served run. Where a 6-day pass is unavailable as a discrete product (Kasprowy Wierch sells single-rides only), the field is shown as "—". Cross-border resorts (Klínovec-Oberwiesenthal, Kanin-Sella Nevea) reflect the joint Slovak/Slovenian-side ticket.
