    Frequently Asked Questions

Japan, by a wide margin, for snow quality and terrain variety — Niseko and Hakuba Valley are world-class destinations on any global measure. South Korea has the most polished family infrastructure (2018 Olympic venues, English ski schools, integrated villages) and the best night skiing in the world. China offers the cheapest serious lift-served skiing in any major economy and the largest beginner zones, but terrain is limited outside Heilongjiang and Xinjiang.

Core season runs late November through early April across all three countries. Japan's Hokkaido and Tohoku regions have the longest reliable powder window (mid-December through mid-March). Korea's Gangwon Olympic resorts run late November through early April. China's Chongli Olympic resorts open mid-to-late November and close late March; Yabuli and Changbaishan in northeastern China extend into early April.

China is the cheapest: Beijing day-trip resorts EUR 28–35 per day, Chongli Olympic resorts EUR 48–73, Yabuli EUR 40. South Korea is moderate: Seoul day-trip resorts EUR 48–70, Gangwon Olympic resorts EUR 78–88. Japan is the most expensive: typical day passes EUR 38–62. However, Japan offers the best snow-to-cost ratio in the world — Niseko's EUR 60 day pass buys conditions that would cost EUR 90+ at any equivalent Alpine resort.

South Korea operates the world's most extensive commercial night-skiing infrastructure — every commercial resort floods 80–100% of slopes for 4-hour night sessions (18:30–22:30) at half the day-pass price. Japan's Niseko, Rusutsu and Naeba also offer extensive night skiing on illuminated runs. China's night skiing is more limited, mainly at Nanshan (Beijing) and Chongli Olympic resorts.

Limited. Ikon Pass includes 5–7 days each at Niseko United and Rusutsu (Japan); no Korea or China inclusion. Epic Pass includes Hakuba Valley days (Japan); no Korea or China. Mountain Collective includes Niseko United. For Korea and China, buy direct via resort websites or through Klook, Naver (Korea) and Meituan/Ctrip (China), which routinely discount 30–40% off window prices.
