    The Carpathians arc through Romania, Slovakia, Poland and parts of Ukraine, with the largest resorts in Romania (Poiana Brașov, Sinaia) and Slovakia (Jasná, Donovaly).

    Yes — wide, gentle pistes, English-speaking ski schools and very low lesson and lift-pass prices make the Carpathians one of Europe's best value beginner regions.

    Lower altitude and smaller lift networks, but day passes are often a third of Alpine prices and weekly costs can be 40–60% cheaper. Snow is most reliable from January to early March.
