Andes Skiing FAQ
Mid-June to early October, with peak conditions usually in late July and August. This makes the Andes the main option for Northern Hemisphere summer skiing.
Chile (Valle Nevado, Portillo, Nevados de Chillán) offers higher altitude and drier snow. Argentina (Cerro Catedral, Las Leñas) often has bigger storms, more tree skiing and a stronger village scene. Many travellers combine both.
Several resorts sit above 3,000 m, so allow a day to acclimatise in Santiago or Mendoza before heading up — especially for Portillo and Valle Nevado.
Typically €1,500–€3,500 per person including flights, lift passes and lodging — closer to Alpine prices than Japan but with a much shorter summer window.
